About Us

Black Men in Behavior Analysis (BMBA) is a special interest group specifically for black men in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), proudly partnered with Black Applied Behavior Analysts (BABA).

At BMBA, our mission is to empower, support, and amplify the voices of Black Men working in the field of behavior analysis.

Black men in this field often feel isolated, underrepresented, undermined and unsupported. Considering statistics recently released by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), this is not at all surprising:

  • About 4% of all BCBAs are black.
  • Less than 2% of all BCBAs are black males.
  • Less than 1% of Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBAs) are black males.

Based on surveys conducted by BMBA, less than 10% of black men in our field receive ongoing mentorship.

Given these challenges, BMBA is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and equitable community that promotes personal and professional growth, collaboration, mentorship, and leadership among black men in behavior analysis.

Our vision at BMBA is to create a future where black men are celebrated, represented, and empowered as leaders and influencers in the field of behavior analysis. We envision a profession that embraces diversity, cultivates inclusivity, and actively promotes equity at all levels.
